DRY-CHECK

Dry-Check is an innovative device for the automatic detection of moisture content in ceramic tiles moving along the production line.
Dry-Check uses TDR (Time-Domain Reflectometry) technology, a dielectric measurement method based on the travel time of electromagnetic pulses to determine the water content of the product.
Unlike other technologies, moisture measurement is not limited to the surface of the product. The electromagnetic field penetrates into the tile body, allowing the system to detect the actual amount of water contained within the ceramic body.
Dry-Check can be easily installed at any point along the production line. Measurement is performed without contact, and the high signal-processing speed means that the tile does not need to stop for a predefined period above the sensor. Moisture can therefore be measured directly while the product is moving normally along the production line.
The two main moisture-monitoring points along the production line can be:
– At the dryer outlet, in order to detect tiles with excessive residual moisture and prevent both glaze waste and problems during the firing process.
– Before the kiln entrance, with the tile already dried and glazed, in order to reject products with excessive moisture that could cause tile breakage and production stoppages.
The device is supplied complete with a control panel equipped with PLC and colour HMI. The system allows the operator to set calibration curves according to product thickness, save data and production recipes, configure alarms when preset moisture thresholds are exceeded, and automatically detect the residual moisture content of each individual tile passing through the line.
Calibration procedures are simple and do not require any specific technical knowledge or previous experience.
